Five events in October, all beginning at 7.30pm in St Vigor’s Church, Fulbourn

1.Tuesday 3 October

Amarins Wierdsma (violin) with Ed Liddel (piano) This young violinist studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, completing her Masters with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, in 2014. The programme will include Sonatas by Beethoven and Brahms.
Phoenix Chorus (Director Lynda Wood)

2.Saturday 7 October
We will be welcoming thirty or so of the eighty-strong auditioned women’s Phoenix Chorus singing an a cappella programme in the barbershop style of well-known and some less familiar standards. They have won awards and medals in both the UK and abroad.

3.Sunday 15 October
Richard Gowers – Organ

A great opportunity to hear the church organ put through its paces with a programme to include Bach’s majestic Fantasia and Fugue in G Minor. Richard was a prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists at seventeen. In the past three years at Kings, he has accompanied the renowned choir, taught the boy choristers and played for numerous concerts and recordings.

4.Saturday 21 October
Matthew McCombie – Piano
Matthew gives frequent performances both in the UK and internationally, working with leading conductors. His Fulbourn programme of popular classical music will include Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, a selection of Lyric Pieces by Grieg, and Chopin’s Heroic Polonaise.

5.Friday 27 October
Nicholas Jackson – Tenor, with Christopher Gould, piano

Local singer Nicholas Jackson has given recitals in Cambridge and London, exploring a small part of the depth and breadth of the Art Song, with particular preference for the Lieder of Schubert and Schumann. His Fulbourn programme will include Schumann’s Liederkreis.

Ticket arrangements:
Individual concerts £10, U16 and students £4 for any event. Book for two, three or four concerts for £8 each
Book for the series of five concerts for £35 (£7 per concert).
Tickets will be on sale from 3 September, available from C880793 or from ‘Twelve’, in the High Street, Fulbourn. Also on the door for any concert.
